Time to Bond

In Personal Development, relationships on April 22, 2018 at 9:53 pm

I love spending time with my kids. Today, my son and I played catch. There is something about playing catch with your son. An experience unlike any other. Teaching something so fundamental to the game of baseball. I find it to be a fascinating exercise in observing confidence in action.

Whether it is playing catch with a baseball with your son, kicking a soccer ball with your daughter, or shooting baskets with either; I will always cherish the memories created. Personally and scientifically.

Get out and get active with someone, especially your kids. You will grow from it just as much as they will.

Out of Control

In Personal Development on August 3, 2016 at 5:06 pm

I had a delayed flight yesterday that caused me to miss my connection that would take me home. You’ve probably experienced this before, or at least experienced some kind of disappointment in you life.

I was surrounded by several people that were not able to control their reactions very well. They placed blame on the airline, the airport, the ticketing agent, etc. none of those listed in the previous sentence had any control over our flight status. Our flight was delayed due to a large thunderstorm.

When your faces with disappointing circumstances, it’s easy to look for someone to blame and start pointing fingers. However, it is also easy to control your reaction to the situation and realize that it is what it is. One man got out his guitar and gently strummed it and sang to pas the time. Some were upset by this. Not me. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the fact that he embraced the situation and did what he could to make himself and others happy. He controlled the controlable.

When you are disappointed in the circumstances around you, how do you react? Keep moving forward and pick those around you up.

Control the controlable.

The Pursuit of Happiness

In Personal Development on July 4, 2016 at 11:00 am

Do you ever ponder just what those words mean? I know several people walking this world today that just are not happy. They are looking for that someone or that something to bestow happiness upon them. The truth is, only you can make you happy. It’s a conscious choice. A decision. The pursuit.

I think when the Founding Fathers wrote these words, they had a more profound definition. Think about it. They had the forsight to see that just declaring independence was not going to solve all of their problems, but they would be able to pursue happiness.

So what are you waiting for? You are independent as a person just as we are as a nation. You have to seek your own happiness. You’re not going to find it in a bottle or a pill. You are not going to find it with a larger paycheck or more friends. You will not find it with material possessions or with the people in your life.

Happiness is your decision. Happiness is your choice. Choose to pursue happiness and accept it when you feel it.

Happy Independence Day!
